Dear Community,

It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that Dana Harvey - our Founder & long time Executive Director - passed away this year after her battle with cancer.

Dana was truly a visionary leader, devoting her passion and creativity to catalyze groundbreaking programs, launch community-based businesses, and forge wide-reaching partnerships that fostered food security and equitable economic development. Dana's focus on engaging with community and investing in local assets never wavered.

Dana understood the interconnectedness of the world we live in-- an understanding embedded in the systems approach that she brought to the work, her connection to the land and the farmers that cultivate it, and the care with which she held friends and family.

Dana was a woman of incredible integrity, powerful conviction, and thoughtful kindness. Her tenacity, her brilliance, her values and her clarity have impacted the lives of residents, farmers, entrepreneurs, colleagues, and friends in profound and immeasurable ways. She has entrenched in all of us the principles that she dedicated her life to, and the legacy that Dana leaves behind will be forever in our hearts, and visible in the work we will continue to advance in her honor.

Our deepest gratitude to all of you who admired, respected and loved Dana,

The Mandela Team
